Synth goes silent

I run midi note on/off commands trough the usb port into rhe echon6; after a couple of hours the synth will no longer play them and I’ll have to reload the preset to get it going gain.

I did this with factory preset 1-1-1 .. just an attack & such changed a bit, and firmware 0.12.1 .. which it shipped with.

And it is pretty repeatable .. seen it three times now .. I basically want to run the synth permanently .

Oh, and the notes are played very very slowly .. at one beat per minute .. and nothing shorter than quarter notes

I’m trying to sort this out ..

Over the five pin MIDI I have no issues, but I had noticed it over USB MIDI from my windows laptop.

I was later also having connection issues with the configurator running in Brave, also on that windows PC.

So I now suspect the windows USB implementation, on which I can not really spy .. but willmsee what happens if I run my test with USB MIDI from the mac.

Tests take a while .. the previous one with the 5 pin MID from the mac I ran for 14 hours and the issues I had seen before came more often than that.

Hi Jan,

welcome to the community  and for reaching out.
Before we dig into anything else, you’ll definitely want to update your ECHON 6 to the latest firmware first (>= 1.x.x). A lot of the issues people run into early on are already fixed in the newer releases, so it’s the quickest way to rule those out and make sure we’re troubleshooting from the same starting point.

Once you’ve done that, let us know how it’s behaving and we’ll take it from there. Feel free to share any details about your setup too, it usually helps us point you in the right direction faster…

Thanks Eli,

meanwhile I’ve sorted this out - I have been bitten by Windows thinking to be clever at USB power management - again - and had totally forgotten about such issues :frowning:

After an ok test with MIDI USB on the Mac for 10-11 hours and after disabling windows power managment on USB and running the test again on the windows laptop, for almost 10 hours now, I’m convinced that this was not an ECHON issue [ but a windows issue] .

The setup is nuts BTW .. but I’m beginning to make sense of it .. ja ja .. did it myself .. and doing a software update over MIDI while being in doubt about it’s workings seemed to not be a very good idea .. but .. with how things work now .. it’s okay.

And .. this gave me time to run trough the manual!
